Steve Friedman
Director
Capt. Steve Friedman is a full-time backcountry fishing guide and elected member of the Islamorada Village Council.
Steve’s love for fishing emerged guiding anglers down the white waters of the Colorado, Eagle and Roaring Fork Rivers. Wanting to fish year round, Steve permanently relocated to Islamorada, Florida to guide fulltime in the Florida Keys where he now lives with his wife Kristine and two teenage children — Benjamin and Sidney.
Capt. Steve’s love of the water ultimately led him to actively work to save it. As the former Commodore of the Florida Keys Fishing Guides Association, member of Captains for Clean Water, founding board member of Florida Bay Forever, and former Advisory Council member of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Steve continues to fight for waters of the Florida Keys.
Steve earned a Bachelor's Degree from Drake University in Spanish and Latin American Studies and a Master’s from the University of New Mexico in Latin American Studies (with an emphasis in political science and community and regional planning).
